Can you Move?

Figuring out whether you are eligible to migrate to a new country is no mean feat.

Luckily for you, the New Zealand skilled migration system is said to be one of the simplest in the world!

There are four key factors that increase your ability to enter New Zealand:Lets hit the beach

  • You are under 56 years of age

  • You have a tertiary or trade qualification

  • You have at least two years work experience

  • You have been offered a job in New Zealand

The Skilled Migrant category is the main path to a life in New Zealand. It works on a points system and is designed to encourage skilled people to move to New Zealand.

Points are earned on the basis of your qualifications, work experience and whether you have a job or job offer in New Zealand.

If your points total 100 or more you can submit an Expression of Interest to Immigration New Zealand (INZ).

INZ rank the Expressions of Interest, and select enough each fortnight to meet the targets set in the New Zealand Residence Programme. Once your Expression of Interest is selected, INZ check the information you have supplied and may invite you to apply for residence.

Currently, if you have 140 points or more you will automatically be invited to apply for residency. For those people with less than 140 points, you are more likely to be invited to apply if you have a skilled job or job offer in New Zealand, or experience or qualifications in an occupation listed on the INZ Long Term Skill Shortage List.

Check out the List to see if you have the experience and qualifications that are in short supply in New Zealand. This will give you a better chance of gaining residency.

A job offer contributes 50 points to your total and is therefore key to increasing your migration points!
